A high-ranking enlisted leader within the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command has been placed on suspension following a recent DUI arrest in Georgia.

Command Sgt. Maj Daniel R. Gibson, the highest-ranking enlisted member of the 224th Military Intelligence Battalion, was taken into custody by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office on May 22 for suspected driving under the influence, as reported by an Army spokesperson.

In the wake of the arrest, Gibson has been stripped of his leadership position at Hunter Army Airfield and is currently under administrative suspension. At the same time, his legal matters are resolved, as confirmed by MyRon Young, spokesperson for the Army Intelligence and Security Command. Young indicated that additional questions should be addressed to the Army Criminal Investigation Division or the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, neither of which has made a public statement at this time.

Gibson's arrest became a trending topic on social media just days following the incident. Efforts by various media organizations to reach him directly have not yielded any results.

Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gibson joined the Army in 2003, beginning his career as a human resources specialist before transitioning to geospatial intelligence imagery analysis. His official biography highlights his deployment to Iraq and mentions receipt of the Combat Action Badge, although it does not specify the deployment dates.

Gibson’s military career boasts a remarkable array of awards and qualifications, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, and numerous other commendations. He possesses a Bachelor of Science in Applied Management from Grand Canyon University and has completed various prestigious military programs, including Airborne School.

He holds membership in the Sergeant Morales Club and has been awarded the Knowlton Award, a distinguished accolade within the Military Intelligence Corps.

Gibson’s suspension signifies a notable shift in leadership as the Army works to tackle conduct-related challenges among its senior enlisted personnel.
