Elias Rodriguez, a 31-year-old man from Chicago, has been charged with the murders of two staff members from the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C.

According to reports, Rodriguez informed authorities that he carried out the attack “for Palestine” and “for Gaza.” Yaron Lischinsky, an Israeli national, and Sarah Milgrim, an American, were ambushed following their departure from a Jewish museum event.

Court documents indicate that Rodriguez conveyed admiration for U.S. Airman Aaron Bushnell, who tragically died by self-immolation in February as a form of protest against Israeli actions in Gaza.

Following the shooting, Rodriguez took to social media to commend Bushnell, referring to him as a "martyr," while also denouncing Israel's military actions. In a provocative statement, he urged, “Escalate For Gaza, Bring The War Home.”

Rodriguez, who had no prior criminal record, was employed at a medical trade association in Chicago. Neighbors characterized him as a quiet individual with a strong interest in politics. He was previously involved in demonstrations addressing issues of police brutality and the influence of corporate power. The group, previously associated with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, has taken steps to distance itself, removing a 2017 article that mentioned him.

In recent years, his online presence has evolved to reflect a more militant pro-Palestinian stance, featuring support for the former leader of Hezbollah and critical observations regarding U.S. assistance to Israel.

The FBI has yet to reveal if Rodriguez was previously known to them before the shooting incident. The family and defense attorney have chosen not to provide any comments.

Recently, the American Osteopathic Information Association has publicly condemned the violence and expressed its commitment to cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
