In honor of Veterans Day, restaurants across the country will once again offer free meals, drinks, and desserts to veterans and active-duty military troops on or around November 11.

Dozens of popular places are offering free meals to veterans in honor of Veterans Day. These meals range from coffee and burgers to full three-course meals.

Some of the nicest chains are those based in Texas. Veterans will get free main courses at all Bombshells locations in Texas and Colorado, and current service members will get 20% off their meals. Veterans can get a free Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Chicken entrée at Cotton Patch Café when they eat in.

As they have done for many years, Applebee's will give veterans and active-duty military members a free meal from a special menu on November 11. Cracker Barrel has a free Sunrise Pancake Special, and from 5 a.m. From noon on, Denny's will serve its famous Original Grand Slam breakfast.

You can get a free main dish and drink from a specific menu at California Pizza Kitchen. You will also get a "Buy One, Get One" card good for another visit. Veterans can choose from a range of in-house meals at participating Chili's locations.

You can get a free Chocolate Chunk Pizookie and a free appetizer pass at BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse on Veterans Day if you are in the mood for something sweet. Both Bruegger's Bagels and Einstein Bros. Bagels are giving away free hot or cold coffee; you do not even have to buy something.

If you like barbecue, you can get a free Pulled Pork Sandwich at Dickey's or a free Georgia Chopped Pork Sandwich with a side at Famous Dave's. Firehouse Subs and Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers are also taking part. At Firehouse, you can buy one sub and get another one free, and at Freddy's, you can get a free combo meal card valid until the end of the year.

  • One other excellent deal is at Olive Garden, where dine-in guests can get a free entrée from a special menu with proof of service.
  • From 4 p.m. to close on Nov. 11, Golden Corral is giving away a free "thank you" buffet meal.
  • Mission BBQ: All soldiers get a free sandwich.
  • Red Robin: Dine-in customers can get a free Big Tavern Burger and as many sides as they want.

You need to show proof of military service for each offer. This could be a legal military ID, VA card, or DD214 form. Most deals are only good for eating in, and they do not include booze, taxes, or tips.

Restaurants that are participating urge veterans to check with their local locations for exact hours and menu information.
