In a tragic development, 1st Lt. Marciano Parisano, a 25-year-old U.S. Army helicopter pilot, was discovered deceased on Saturday in Comayagua, Honduras. This information was confirmed in a statement issued by Joint Task Force-Bravo on Sunday evening. Parisano received orders to join the 1st Battalion, 228 Aviation Regiment, where he was stationed at Soto Cano Air Base.

The Army has confirmed that Parisano, a pilot of the UH-60 Blackhawk from Cibolo, Texas, was off base on a liberty pass at the time of his disappearance. Authorities, including local police and military personnel, conducted an extensive search of the Chiquito River area for several hours, ultimately discovering the body. A damaged cell phone, thought to be associated with Parisano, was found nearby.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Authorities have yet to disclose any details regarding potential foul play or medical concerns at this moment.

Army Col. Daniel Alder, commander of Joint Task Force-Bravo, expressed deep sorrow in a statement regarding the death of Lieutenant Marciano Parisano, stating, “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we acknowledge the passing of Lieutenant Marciano Parisano.” “He demonstrated dignity, pride, and courage while serving our unit and mission at Soto Cano Air Base.”

Parisano's role as a Blackhawk pilot proved essential to the mission of Joint Task Force-Bravo, which serves as the U.S. military's primary expeditionary force throughout Central and South America. In central Honduras, Soto Cano is crucial in facilitating regional humanitarian efforts, disaster response initiatives, and security operations.

“The impact of his contribution to our team cannot be overstated,” Alder stated. “His absence will be profoundly felt by everyone who had the honor of knowing and working alongside him.”

The Army has announced its commitment to providing support to the family of Parisano as they navigate this challenging period. Service members stationed at Soto Cano can now access grief counseling and support services.

The passing of Parisano signifies a poignant moment for the military community, resonating deeply in both Honduras and Texas.
